Geometry, Material, Machine - Insights into the Workshops of the Institute for Art and Architecture

Author: Jakob Grabher (UGC)

The video provides a brief insight into the workshops of the Institute for Art and Architecture. What machines are there? Who has access? What can be made?

The workshops at the Institute for Art and Architecture are places for experimentation and research. Here, students have the opportunity to try things out, understand and implement them. It is all about translating and developing ideas. From a geometry designed on the computer to a real physical object.

The workshop is intended to support the design process. Various production methods and machines are available. For example, there is a CNC milling machine, a laser cutter, various 3D printers and a variety of other machines for wood and metal processing. After a successful introduction to the workshop, students are given access and are allowed to operate the machines independently.
