The Sewing Workshop
Author: Briana Flynt Grupp (UGC)
How do people work in the sewing workshop at the Institute for Artistic Teaching?
In the sewing workshop, students learn how to use the machines and tools in the workshop correctly so that they can later work with them independently. The theoretical part of the course covers materials and supplies. Among other things, the group goes to a large fabric store together, where they are informed about fabrics and quality and price categories. The theory is put directly into practice on workpieces such as cosmetic bags, T-shirts and lavender cushions.
Briana Grupp comes from Berlin. She has lived in Amsterdam, Marseille and Tirana. She is a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In her art, she likes to experiment with different materials such as wood, fabric and wool and combines oil paint with textiles on canvas.
