All about Studying

One Year Later

Author: Jessie Marshall (UGC)

Jessie, a student from the studio of Graphics, shares about her experience on studying at the Academy of Fine Arts and takes us to her studio.

Hey, I’m Jessie, I’m from Melbourne, Australia, and a year and a bit, or two and a half semesters ago, I moved here to Vienna to begin studying a diploma of fine arts in the Graphic studio.

Yeah! One year later - honestly, it took me a while to get used to things.. and finding a sense of belonging here, my level of homesickness really took me by surprise.

Um, so it was quite a culture shock, in a way.

I’ve had some really great experiences getting involved with the events at the Academy, I would really recommend that as a way to meet people. Like, the winter market we had earlier this week, or the Rundgang, or, my class had an exhibition a month ago, and that was really great… yeah, volunteering at the bar at events like these has been a really great way to meet people, and to find that feeling of community.

I’ve really met some wonderful people at the Academy. I really enjoy that it's people from all around the world - this ever growing international community.
