Barrier-free access

The main building of the academy on Schillerplatz has two main entrances that cater for different physical disability needs.

Entrance Schillerplatz:

• For people with visual impairments: a tactile guidance system leads from the sidewalk via the right-hand side of the historic staircase to the porter's lodge (on the first floor)
• For people with walking difficulties: the historic staircase is equipped with additional handrails.
• For people with limited mobility: A signpost leads from the Schillerplatz entrance to the barrier-free Makartgasse entrance.

Entrance Makartgasse:

• For people with limited mobility: The porter can be reached via an intercom (stele on the left) and can open the automatic gate.
• In the passageway, you reach the large automatic entrance door via a ramp on the left-hand side, which can be opened with a button to the right of the door.
• From there (basement) you can reach the elevator to access the other floors. The porter is located on the first floor.
• opening hours entrance Makartgasse:  8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

More about the building:

• Lifts: the building has two lifts equipped with wheelchair-accessible controls.
• Restrooms: accessible restrooms are located on each floor of the building. They are accessible without a Eurokey. 
• The lecture halls "Anatomiesaal" and "Aktsaal" can be reached barrier-free via the lifting platform at staircase 3. The lift can be operated using the Eurokey. Porter can assist if required.
• Registration of wheelchair users: in order to be able to take all rescue measures in the event of a fire, it is necessary to register with the porter (either via the intercom system at the Makartgasse entrance or directly at the porter's lodge on the first floor).
