Workshops with Young Adults

Author: Antje Lehn (Red)

Various workshops were held with schools and educational institutions as part of the Platform Vielfalt project. Three of these are presented below.

Speed-Dating

The Speed Dating project was developed by the Academy Goes to School (AgidS) office and has already been successfully implemented several times, particularly at secondary schools in Vienna. In a two-hour event, students present their artistic subjects at various tables. Pupils visit each station in turn in small groups and ask questions. The Platform Vielfalt team commissioned a group of students to critically document this event and gather feedback from pupils. The findings were incorporated in developing the platform’s concept.

Art as a Profession

Another workshop was held with pupils aged between 16 and 17 from a business school in Steyr. The pupils were able to design their own posters and print them on a risograph; they then presented the results. They discussed the topics of art as a profession, possible educational paths, and ways to study at the art academy with teachers and students from the Academy. This discussion was also documented and conceptually evaluated for the platform.

Portfolio Discussions

The digital student advice project was developed along with the School for Art and Architecture bildung in Innsbruck. Young people who attended the portfolio guidance course at bilding were invited to talk to teachers and students at the Academy. Due to the geographical distance between Vienna and Innsbruck, a digital room was set up for the student advisory service with the help of the Gather platform. Participants used avatars to explore a playfully designed simulation of the Academy’s premises, and informal discussions were also offered.
