Janne Schipper received her bachelor's degree in sculpture from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (NL), Department of Fine Arts. She is currently studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in the Object Sculpture class (AT). Her practice includes installations, sculptures, poetry, photographs, drawings and textile works.
"In my practice I apply different artistic methods and pursue art making as an existential investigation. As a basis for my artistic practice, I work with wood, plaster, clay and stone. These materials open up questions about the monumental and at the same time can preserve small and intricate details, resulting in a sensitive sculpture or installation. I find it important to show vulnerability in my artworks. Uncertainty is not only present in the making of art, but also in the viewing of art. I think a work of art can highlight a sense of recognition of the chaos we all face."
